Yousuf Karsh in the Chateau Laurier

The Fairmont Château Laurier is a landmark hotel in downtown Ottawa, designed in the French Gothic Châteauesque style to complement the adjacent Parliament buildings. As I mentioned in an earlier post, when I visited the lobby of the Chateau Laurier I recognized the work of Yousuf Karsh. I photographed these rooms because Karsh’s portraits were displayed here and the old world charm of this older hotel. The rooms were very symmetrical in design and furnishings. Luckily there was someone seated in both rooms.
