I love macro or close up photography. But I must admit that I only take pictures of what I consider to be not too ugly insects such as butterflies and dragonflies. Bumblebees and ladybugs are also on the list. I usually catch them when I am doing flower photography. If I’m taking pictures with my macro lens and they land on a flower nearby, then I will try to take their picture. Other than just being ugly, the insects around here look like battle worn soldiers by time I’m looking at them through my lens so they are often not good subjects. Their wings are torn and tattered and they are very much worse for wear. However, during my visit to Whitehouse Perennials I captured two butterflies and a dragonfly that still had their wings intact.
